The concept of personal responsibility has everything to do with one’s self. Regardless of what one is attached to, one has to be mindful of one’s own self and how one conducts themselves as It relates to ANY and I mean, ANY circumstance, person, or event. The challenge with this notion is the propensity we all have to keep our focus on anyone or anything outside of ourselves that happens to hinder our sense of desired forward movement. It is from this place that we must recognize our need to internalize the sentiments found within the serenity prayer. Grant me the ability to accept the things I cannot change, change the things I can, and have the wisdom to know the difference. We under no circumstances can change another human being or life circumstances that are outside of our control, regardless of how things may appear. What we can control, what we can change within ourselves. Yep, we can change us. Nothing else is possible and nothing else will do. We can and will literally drive ourselves crazy attempting to grasp at things and people that are ever-changing and uncontrollable. Our work is to go within and clean up that which is occurring within the whole of who we are. Because at the end of the day, when we do the work within, we call forward the beauty we desire to behold all around us. And be very clear, that beauty is not necessarily something that shows up as an immediate visible change in our surrounding reality, but it is the beauty that shows up as the ability on our part to behold the very same circumstances and maintain an inner peace.
THAT IS THE WORK OF OUR LIFETIME. I LOVE YOU.
